Be Your Own Valentine

Valentine's Day PictureWhat comes to mind when you think of your loved ones? Do you think of their kindness, the respect you have for each other and how beautiful they are inside and out?

Now, what do you think of when you think about yourself? Hopefully the same things come to mind. Loving yourself is a necessity for weight loss. It is important to remember that you are worth it and deserve to be happy and healthy. Learn to love and respect yourself the same way you do others this Valentine’s Day.

You cannot change your genetic code. So, don’t be overly critical about your body shape. Respect and accept your body, we only get one. Treat it with the same care and respect you would any irreplaceable object. You may want to start by making time for yourself. With busy schedules and loved ones to look after, it may seem impossible. Yet, relationships are work. The relationship you have with yourself is no exception.

Once you make some “me” time, think about what you really want and need, then set realistic goals. Start with small goals then build on them. Reaching these goals will boost your confidence and you will start to see results over time. If you don’t reach a goal, don’t give up. Reassess, make necessary changes and keep going. Nobody’s perfect.

If health and weight loss are your goals then remember that one day of eating will not suddenly change your nutritional status. It is what you consistently eat that will determine your progress. Think of it as a marathon, not a sprint.

How will you treat yourself this Valentine’s Day?
