Regain Your Power- National Men’s Health Week

This week, June 12-18 is National Men’s Health Week! Men’s Health Week is celebrated each year during the week leading up to Father’s Day. Men’s Health Week was created to help motivate men to take control of their health in an attempt to prevent some common diseases.

Too often, you may forgo taking care of yourself and focus on other things that are consuming your life like your job, family, and other obligations. This week, know that you don’t have to do it alone! You have a support system around you, and it is okay to ask for help. Be sure to reach out to your fathers, brothers, spouses and friends and let them know that they are not alone either, and that they have the power to take back control of their health.

Men’s Health Week

Men’s Health Week was designed to encourage men to get screened, especially for common diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes which is very common in men, especially as they age.

It is important to take advantage of this week and schedule a doctor’s visit today. Get your annual physical and take the advice of your doctor if any follow up is needed. Look around your community for free health screenings and health seminars as well. Events are often held during this week and are hosted by prominent sport figures in the area and are a great opportunity for you to learn something new!
