Stepping Away from Dieting in 2015
Year after year we make New Year’s resolutions to better ourselves in the coming year. Losing weight, eating healthier, and exercising more are among the top ten resolutions made each New Year’s Eve.
The media buzzes about what diets to start in 2015, how to lose the weight, what you should and shouldn’t eat this year, and so on. What they are not telling you is that these “shed the weight fast” diets will not help you achieve your goals long term.
In 2013, only 46% of people who made New Year’s resolutions actually maintained them for more than 6 months. If you are looking to make life long changes in your health, you must realize that you cannot rely on a quick-fix diet to which claims it will help you lose a pound a day or an extreme diet that limits what you can and cannot eat. The first step to living diet-free in 2015 is recognizing that diet fads are not going to be beneficial to you in the long run.
While it may be tempting to hop on a “lose weight quick” or a “don’t eat these foods” diet, trendy diets are not going to help you become a healthier person. You must accept this to be true if you want to better yourself and put an end to dieting once and for all. Instead of deciding to never eat foods x, y, and z this New Year, make a commitment to your health by embracing a diet-free life in 2015.
Depriving yourself will not yield long term health or weight loss, but will encourage binge eating and feeling bad about yourself because you cannot stick to a diet. Remember that you want to step AWAY from diets this year. If you put in the time and care to change your mindset about dieting, you can experience the value of saying goodbye to dieting for good.
Once you learn how to live without strict food restrictions, you will see that living diet-free is a long term solution to manage your health and weight.
Cheers to a Happy and Healthy New Year and a Diet-Free you!
