Treat Mom to a Mindful Mother’s Day
This Sunday is Mother’s Day! Give your mom a gift every mother deserves: relaxation and meaningful together-time. I’m sharing below a few gift suggestions to show your mom how much she means to you!
Spend time together. Now that you have a busy life of your own, you probably don’t see your mom as much. Busy schedules or living in different towns or states can make it difficult to find the time to spend together. If there is any occasion to make sure to see your mom, it’s surely on mother’s day? Plan for meaningful quality time to do a fun activity, reminisce on sweet memories, or just relax together. If you and mom live too far apart to meet, send her a gift package filled with your favorite photos together and a heartfelt letter talking about special memories you have with her. Then schedule some Skype time and the distance won’t feel quite as far.
Plan a special meal. After caring and cooking for your family for years, your mom deserves to be cared for. Instead of following the crowds out to restaurants this Mother’s Day, prepare a meal for Mom. Invite the whole family and work together to prepare your mom’s favorite meal or share some of your favorite recipes with her. Eating at home also allows you to have control over the food you are eating so you can stay mindful of the ingredients and amount you are eating.
Do something fun! For the moms who like a little more excitement, why not try a new activity together. Signing up for cooking classes can be a great bonding and learning experience. If your mom is active, check out a yoga class. Of course, spa days and mediation are great activities for everyone and they will help you de-stress and recharge your bodies and minds. In order to stay mindful every day, you must take time to clear your mind and focus on yourself. There can’t be a better treat for your mom than peace of mind and time to focus on herself.
Give a gift she can benefit from every day. If you want to give your mom a gift that she can use and love every day, opt for something that will benefit her health! Everyone falls into recipe ruts from time to time so a healthy cookbook will help spice things up in the kitchen so she feels inspired to cook at home. Blenders and slow cookers are popular kitchen gadgets because they make it easy to create one-pot meals, smoothies, or home made sauces and salad dressings.
Relax and pamper her at home. Moms deserve a little rest and relaxation. Give your mom the opportunity to treat herself every day with an at home pampering kit. Buy an infusion water pitcher or water bottle which allows you to infuse water with fresh fruits. This will keep mom hydrated and feeling like she’s at a spa every day. Flavoring your own water at home with natural ingredients is a healthy alternative to pre-made juices and soft drinks that we often reach for because we’re “bored” of water.
