Think Outside the Heart Shaped Box This Valentine’s Day!
Valentine’s Day is an occasion to celebrate love among partners, friends, and family. There are many ways to express appreciation for others on this day, but the most common ones are exchanging cards, giving out chocolate, and sending flowers. Although these are the typical ways to celebrate, there are many other options! This year, be creative and treat your valentine to more than just treats!
5 Fun activities to do this Valentine’s Day:
1.) A couples’ workout – studies have shown that partners who exercise regularly together feel more connected overall. By making healthy lifestyle choices as a pair, you not only feel better personally, but can also strengthen your bond. Having common interests is very important to enjoying quality time together. Go for a hike, a brisk walk, or try out a new class together at your gym!
2.) Attend a cooking class – a great alternative to going out for dinner on Valentine’s day is preparing a meal together in the comfort of your own home. This is also an excellent way to keep costs low, as most restaurants will charge more on this holiday. If neither of you are very comfortable in the kitchen, try attending a cooking class together to learn some new recipes that you can master as a team!
3.) Go to a museum / concert – if you and your partner are into the arts, going to see a new exhibit or live performance would be a perfect evening! Whether it’s a traveling exhibit at your local museum, or a concert of your favorite band, this fun night out is sure to be more exciting than any floral arrangement.
4.) Game night – if you prefer a quieter night in, a game night with some homemade snacks is right up your Valentine’s day alley. Grab a few board games and a deck of cards so that there are plenty of options. This can even be enjoyed by the whole family, or with a group of friends!
5.) Go to a couple’s spa – nothing says relaxing like a spa and nothing says romantic like a couple’s spa day! You can either go out for one or make your own spa at home with scented candles and dimmed lights. Whatever you choose, it’ll be nice to have the relaxing night together and you’ll both wake up the next day rejuvenated.
No matter what type of evening you prefer, there are countless options to enjoy Valentine’s Day with your loved ones. This holiday doesn’t have to be all about chocolate, flowers, and expensive dinners (although who doesn’t really love some chocolate any time!). The most important part is spending time with those you care about, and finding activities that are enjoyed by all.
