Peachy-keen August

Keep it sweet this August for National Peach Month! Peaches ripen throughout the summer, which is why August is the perfect time to celebrate them.  This juicy fruit is a great on-the-go snack that is filled with many nutrients. Peaches are a great source of fiber as well asa good source of vitamins A and C.

7 Ways to Eat More Peaches

 

1.  Eat it raw: There is nothing like a sweet, juicy peach all on its own!

2. Fruit salad: This is one of the easiest ways to eat more peaches. Simply peel them and add them to fruit salad with all your other favorite fruits.

3. Salsa: You can give your salsa a sweet tooth by adding pieces of diced peaches into a traditional salsa recipe.

4. Iced tea: You can naturally sweeten iced tea without having to add table sugar. Purée peeled peaches and add the juice to iced tea.

5. Oatmeal: Start your day off right with a nice bowl of oatmeal. Add peach slices directly to a hot bowl of oatmeal or incorporate them into an overnight oatmeal recipe.

6. Preserves: You can either make your own preserves or buy premade ones at the store. You can then add the preserves to foods like French toast or waffles.

7. Grilled: Grilling peaches adds a smoky flavor that pairs well with its sweetness – it can be eaten on its own or thrown on top ice cream for a cool treat.

 

Tip: If you happen to buy too many peaches at the store, tryfreezing them! To freeze them: peel the peaches while still ripe and cut them into slices. Freeze the slices in an airtight bag for later use in baked recipes or smoothies.
